I am here to walk you through every step of planning so we can capture stunning images and (most importantly!) so you can relax and enjoy your wedding! Your wedding day is not a photo shoot! It’s a real, authentic celebration and I want you to enjoy it.

Let's Start At the beginning

timeline of shp that starts WAY back

I began my photography journey when I was 15 years old and in high school.

This is where my love of photography began. I loved to take portraits with my film camera and then developing the film on my own.

I loved photography so much, I went on to major in it at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography.

After college, I continued my photography journey by working in the photo department of major magazines.

This was such a fun experience! A few of the magazines I worked with were Maxim, Spin, Bride’s, Family Circle and Inked.

In 2013, I took the leap into full time photography and opened Susan Hennessy Photography.

Being a business owner has been a wild ride! And I would not change it for the world.

In the 10 years I have owned SHP, I have had the amazing blessing of working with over 250 couples, countless portrait sessions, and countless families!

It has been a wonderful journey, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the future.

Susan worked so hard on my wedding day, when I had no one else to advocate for me to make sure I had what I wanted. After a heartbreaking postponement, all I wanted was a ceremony on the beach. We knew the weather changes so quickly in Avalon, and she helped me make a perfect plan with our coordinator.

Susan is absolutely incredible, but if you’re here and you’ve seen her portfolios, you already know that. She’s simply the best especially if you’re having a beach wedding.

One of the things that impressed me most was her ability to command a large crowd without ruining the fun-energy or vibe. We had a very large wedding party (22) and a very complicated family dynamic but Susan was able to navigate all with ease. We were able to get every shot and combination that we wanted and still enjoy ourselves!

You simply cannot go wrong when choosing Susan as your photographer! Susan is such a natural and so easy to be around. She made both the engagement photos and wedding photos a breeze!
