Blue Heron Pines Wedding, Egg Harbor City, NJ – Christa & Perry

Last month, I photographed Christa and Perry’s gorgeous Blue Heron Pines wedding. Blue Heron Pines is another one of the venues I am a preferred vendor at and I am always so honored to photograph there!

Perry & Christa attended the same high school and were in the same graduating class. Senior year, they had several classes together. Christa remembers Perry being “too cool” to talk to her in high school. Perry says in their A&P class, Christa sat in front of him and wouldn’t even turn around to talk to him and hand him papers. It wasn’t until a few years after high school when Perry and Christa finally started talking. Since they knew a lot of the same people and had a few mutual friends, they ran into each other one night at a local bar in Galloway & started talking. The same night, Perry wrote on Christa’s Facebook wall, in what he thought was the coolest way to do so, his phone number with the caption “use it.” For some reason, still unknown to this day, Christa “used it” and the rest is history.

Six years after they began dating, Perry proposed on a cool spring day. Christa and Perry went hiking in Asheville, North Carolina as hiking is one of Perry and Christa’s favorite things to do together. Perry loves exploring and forced Christa, which was more difficult than expected, to go down into the cold stream and stand right in front of a beautiful waterfall for their usual “selfie”. Two of Christa and Perry’s good friends were actually standing by with cameras ready to capture the proposal! Perry got down on one knee and Christa said “YES”! Christa thought that was the end of the surprise, but was shocked when she walked into their home and a whole party was set up with her family, friends and lots of champagne!

Our couples favorite moment from their Blue Heron Pines wedding? Seeing one another for the first time as Christa walked down the aisle. As their photographer, my favorite moment was when they sneaked out with me during golden hour for a few sunset shots, we had the perfect sun for it!

Planning their Blue Heron Pines wedding was tough for these two, they did everything out of state as they currently live in North Carolina. But now that the stress of planning their Blue Heron Pines wedding is over and that they have finished honeymooning in St. Lucia, these two are looking forward to continuing their travels and eventually starting a family.

Thank you to Christa and Perry for allowing me to photograph your gorgeous Blue Heron Pines wedding! Scroll through to view my favorites from their day.

Brooklyn Engagement Session – Julie & Izzy

Last May, I photographed Julie and Izzy’s adorable and Brooklyn Engagement Session in New York City. Julie and Izzy are getting married next month at Biagio’s and The Terrace and I cannot wait. Julie and Izzy met at a bar in Jackson Heights, Queens called Novo’s where Izzy was a DJ at. Julie was there with a friend and Izzy was introduced himself, two weeks later, they shared a ride on the 7 train as their first date and the rest is history!

I met these two on a beautiful evening for their Brooklyn engagement session and had such a great time photographing these two and getting to know them. I especially loved their 6 year old daughter, Arlene. She was so fun, so cute and had so much personality! I cannot wait to see her as their flower girl!

Julie loves that Izzy is hard working, dedicated and loving. Izzy loves that Julie is hard working, his best friend and an amazing mother <3

Julie and Izzy are planning a modern and elegant wedding at Biagio’s and The Terrace and I am looking forward to all the salsa music that their band will certainly play! Once they are married, their dream is to live many more healthy years together, continue traveling and possibly extending their family.

Any advice for future bride’s planning?

“Start planning as soon as you can and make sure you enjoy your planning as hard as it is!”

And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?

“Seeing our two families unite, the beautiful decor and the whole turnout on this project I have worked day and night for the last 9 months for!”

Windrift Hotel Wedding, Avalon NJ – Brenda & Robert

Last May, I captured Brenda and Robert’s Windrift Hotel wedding in Avalon, New Jersey. I absolutely love photographing at the Windrift Hotel, not only am I a preferred vendor there but their ballroom is one of my favorites! Brenda and Robert planned a gorgeous elegant beach theme for their wedding day and even though Avalon, NJ had a nor’easter that day, their theme was evident in all their details!

Rob and Brenda met in a health policy class at the Harvard Kennedy School in Fall of 2012. During the second week of school, Brenda’s friend Bernie pointed Rob out to her by sending a text message during class that said, “What about that guy in the 2nd row named Rob?” As the story goes, Brenda looked over at him and his baby face, and typed back, “Bernie! NO! He is 12 years old!” Bren and Rob did eventually get to know each other and shared their first kiss at a Halloween party that fall. Neither of them thought too much of it at first, it turns out Rob “wasn’t looking for anything serious” and Brenda had just met someone else in New York.

As the semester went on, they remained casual friends and took another class together in the Spring. They each had some unresolved feelings for the other, but didn’t know it. At the end of the school year, Brenda presented Rob with a little gift, she gave him a small rubber duck dressed as a doctor. It turns out, Brenda remembered that he had a collection of them in his bathroom and thought it would be a funny little send-off gift as he headed back to North Carolina for his final year of medical school.

A few weeks later, Rob texted saying that he missed her. Brenda wrote back and said that she missed him too. Rob flew to New York City shortly after and they have been together ever since!

Their first date was in Philadelphia at Mercato, a rustic Italian restaurant in Center City. Rob loved it so much that he decided to later propose over their meatballs on February 11, 2015. He hid one of his friends to take pictures, and the whole staff was in on it. Brenda was very surprised and very happy!

Brenda and Robert’s most memorable moment of their Windrift Hotel wedding was their ceremony. Their officiant, Matt, is a dear friend of theirs. His words were sweet, smart, and funny. Our couple loved being surrounded by their closest friends and family to exchange vows. One of Brenda’s bridesmaids is also a professional violinist and played while Brenda’s father walked her down the aisle.

My favorite moment of Brenda and Robert’s Windrift Hotel wedding was when they announced the gender of their baby. They set up two baskets where their guests could guess boy or girl (I guessed girl!) and halfway through the evening, they had both their mother’s open up an envelope. It was an amazing moment to capture – IT’S A BOY!

Any advice for future couple’s planning?

Wedding planning can be crazy, but it’s important to remember the day is a celebration of you as a couple. Our advice is keep it simple and authentic to you.

Now that these two have finished planning their wedding, Brenda an urgent care pediatrician at CHOP and Rob, a resident at UPenn in general surgery are looking forward to expanding their family when their baby boy arrives this August (who I cannot wait to meet!). Due to Brenda’s pregnancy, no honeymoon immediately after the wedding, but they plan to vacation in the Cayman Islands in December, one of their favorite destinations!

Thank you to Brenda and Rob for allowing me to photograph your day, despite the rain, we captured so many images I love, scroll through to view my favorites from their Windrift Hotel wedding!

Jenna & Mike’s Spring Skyview Golf Club Wedding

In May, I photographed Jenna and Mike’s beautiful Skyview Golf Club wedding in Sparta, New Jersey. Jenna and Mike had a purple color scheme for their day and Jenna described the style of the wedding as a Spring botanical vibe, I loved the flowers she chose as well as all her well thought out details throughout the day that showcased this look! Scroll through to hear all about Mike and Jenna and to see my favorite photographs from their Skyview Golf Club wedding!

Skyview Golf Club Wedding

Jenna, an instructional designer and Mike, an NYPD detective met online and had their first date at the Cheesecake Factory. Mike proposed on Christmas Eve in 2015 in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, Jenna never expected Mike to propose in such a public way, so she was pretty shocked and surprised when it happened!

On the morning of their wedding day, I met Jenna in the brand new bridal suite at the Skyview Golf Club. Hair and makeup were nearly finished and she was so excited to see Mike for the first look. Jenna designed all the invitations, escort cards, signs and menu’s for their wedding day and I loved how everything tied unto her purple botanic theme for the day, I also loved the font she chose!

Skyview Golf Club Wedding

Once time for the first look, myself and my second photographer brought an excited Mike outside. I LOVED Mike’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time on the wedding day, definitely one of my most favorite first looks ever! After the first look was complete, we used every inch of the Skyview Golf Club for couple and bridal party photos. I love that Skyview has an old rustic barn on the property that is the perfect backdrop for photos – it’s perfect for the rustic bride looking for a barn for her photos!

One of my favorite details of Jenna and Mike’s day was that they chose Mike’s brother to be the officiant of their sweet ceremony Skyview Golf Club Wedding overlooking the golf course. Once the ceremony was complete, we were fortunate enough to steal these two one last time before the reception began and I am so glad we did because the light on this golf course right before sunset is perfect!

What was the hardest part of wedding planning? What was the easiest?

From Jenna: “The hardest part of wedding planning for me was all of the smaller details, like the reception decor and picking out the music. Making decisions about the bigger, more expensive items was actually the easiest part.”

Skyview Golf Club Wedding

When I asked Jenna what her favorite memory of their wedding day was, she said it was absolutely their first dance! “I have so many wonderful memories, but my favorite is the first dance, which is surprising because I was really nervous about it! Mike and I were really focused on each other, really in the moment, like time stopped for just a few minutes. It was the only time that day when it felt like it was just the two of us in the room.”

Any advice for future couple’s planning?

“If you can, take your time. Mike and I planned our wedding for a year and a half, so we got a ton of stuff done early and had time to save. Being able to pace ourselves really helped us keep our sanity.”

Now that these two are married and back from their Aruba honeymoon, they plan on buying a home and Jenna hopes to add another puppy to the two they already have. They also hope to have children and to continue traveling as a married couple.

Thank you to Jenna and Mike for allowing me to capture your gorgeous Skyview Golf Club wedding! Scroll through to view more of my favorites from their gorgeous day <3

Kerry & Dan’s Long Island Engagement Session

Last month, I photographed Kerry and Dan’s adorable engagement session on at Frank Melville Memorial Park on Long island. This extremely happy couple first met New Year’s Eve 2009 at a mutual friends party while playing beer pong. Their two friends were dating each other, but Kerry and Dan had never met. They both had planned on attending other parties that evening, but after meeting and chatting, they both ended up staying at that party together all night. Kerry had been taking pictures all night, so before they left, Dan asked for her Facebook profile so he “could see the pictures.” They messaged each other for a couple months before Dan asked her to hang out again.

Their first official date was May 1, 2010, the day before Kerry’s birthday. They had the classic first date – dinner and a movie! They dined at Ciello’s in Smithtown, NY and although the restaurant has since changed their name, the memories of them sharing a great meal followed by a late-night movie so they were together when the clock hit midnight for her birthday will always remain. They officially became boyfriend and girlfriend on May 27th of that year, which also happens to be their future wedding date!

Kerry and Dan were engaged on 08/15/2016 while vacationing at Okemo Mountain in Vermont. From Kerry: “Since it was summer, there were very few people there. On our second night, we got dressed up and went to one of the restaurants in the hotel. We had the whole place to ourselves! After ordering, Dan suggested we take a selfie, which I thought was odd because I’m usually the one suggesting photos. Dan came over to my side of the table and kneeled down to be at my level sitting, and held the phone out, but instead of snapping a picture, he hit “record” for a video. I looked at him confused, and he told me to look to my left, where he was holding the ring around my shoulder, and I hadn’t even noticed it! Once I saw the ring, I yelled “Oh my God!” and felt the heat rush to my face. Dan said that I was beet red! He told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him, and I of course said “YES!” He later told me that he forgot most of what he wanted to say, but the whole proposal is on video!”

How gorgeous is this Vera Wang engagement ring!?! I LOVE the sapphires!

From Kerry: “There wasn’t one specific moment that I knew Dan was the one for me. It was the build up of love, trust, and respect over time that led me to know how different this relationship was. It was effortless, and always filled with love, respect, and support for one another. Everything was mutual, and I knew in my heart that he would be my husband one day.”

From Dan: “Like Kerry said, we had built love and trust over time. But what reassured me that Kerry was The One was when I broke my ankle and leg playing hockey, and she took care of me, staying at my house for two weeks straight to help me when I could barely move. It showed me how much she cared, and that she would always be there for me, in sickness and in health, or when I get injured playing sports. I knew then that I wanted to start looking for a ring.”

Once their wedding has passed, Kerry and Dan are hoping to purchase their first home and eventually, they’d love to build their dream home that Dan, an architect has designed for their future family to grow up and grow old in. Kerry says that they will still be holding hands and being affectionate when they’re 80!

Any advice for future bride’s planning?

“Enjoy being engaged. Wedding planning can become stressful, but if you are in it together, communicate, and take time for yourselves to enjoy being an engaged couple, it will be a much smoother process. Give yourselves enough time for planning and money-saving to alleviate the stress. And remember that everyone is going to give their opinions on what they think is best for your wedding, but at the end of the day, it’s YOUR special day for you and your fiancé, so do what feels right for you.”

And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?

“Starting our new lives together as husband and wife, and celebrating with family and friends! And of course, the FOOD!”

These two are tying the knot on May 27th of next year at the Timber Point Mansion and I am so thankful they picked me to be their wedding day and engagement photographer! cannot wait to document their day! <3

Angela & Marc’s Normandy Farm Wedding

Last April, I photographed Angela and Marc’s Normandy Farms wedding in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Angela and Marc had a rustic affair with hints of wood, wine and whiskey. These two had a beautiful Summer-like Spring Day and we were even lucky enough to capture some cherry blossom trees before they were gone for the season!

I started the day in one of the hotel rooms with Angela and her mother and bridesmaids. Some of my favorite moments during this time was capturing Angela’s pretty details (I loved Marc’s wood wedding band!), the bridesmaids reaction to seeing Angela fully dressed in her gorgeous Oleg Cassini wedding dress and when an emotional Angela read her card from Marc. And the tears didn’t stop when we did a first look with her Dad!

Once time for the first look, both Angela and Marc were emotional again and I loved capturing it! We did the first look underneath the cherry blossom trees and walked all over Normandy Farms finding the best spots to shoot them. I loved the way Marc looked at his beautiful bride.

Their ceremony was perfect and also Angela and Marc’s favorite part of their Normandy Farms wedding day. It was highly personalized by their sweet officiant, Rev. Kent, our couple had a sand unity ceremony and pout notes in a wine box that they plan on reading to each other on their one year anniversary. And at the end of the ceremony, right before they officially kissed, a bee flew into Angela’s veil and her Maid of Honor and officiant worked together to get it out!

One of my favorite reception details were their favors! Angela and Marc chose little bottles of Jack Daniels with one of their engagement photos on the label, I have never seen my photographs on a liquor bottle before and I thought it was so cute! Another detail I loved is that Angela, a school teacher had her students provide marriage advice that they had at their ceremony, her students said such adorable things like “don’t be mean to each other”, it was such a cute way to involve her students!

Their reception was so fun! I loved the rustic back drop that Normandy Farms Silos Ballroom served for their day. One of my favorite moments was when each Angela and Marc danced with their grandparents after their parent dances. There was not a dry eye in the ballroom for that moment!

Any advice for future couple’s planning?

From Angela: “Enjoy the planning process. It may feel hectic, but don’t sweat the small stuff and keep in mind what the day is truly about. Also, for us, we are so happy we spent a little more on the photography and reverend. They are crucial parts of the day and provide memories we will have forever.”

Angela and Marc honeymooned in Cape May, New Jersey, their dreams for the future include starting a family, advancing in their careers, and traveling.

Thank you for choosing me to photograph your gorgeous and rustic Normandy Farms wedding! xoxox

Corey & Kevin’s Longwood Gardens Engagement Session

Last month, I photographed Corey and Kevin’s colorful Spring Longwood Gardens engagement session! Longwood Gardens is one of my absolute favorite locations for an engagement session, every season looks so different than the last and it always provides a stunning background for any type of session. During this trip, I was lucky enough to capture the cherry blossoms at their peak bloom in mid-April, my absolute favorite backdrop on earth!

We started the session in the conservatory at Longwood Gardens, I absolutely loved all the Spring color we found and captured. One thing I love about April engagement sessions are the blooms, I cannot wait to discover new places next year and I am already dreaming about those cherry blossoms again!

I am photographing these two in only a couple of short weeks at the Reeds at Shelter Haven, I cannot wait to see these two again on June 10th!

Danielle & Tom’s Batsto Village Anniversary Session

Danielle and Tom were married on April 8, 2016 and in mid – April of this year, we met at Batsto Village for their anniversary session! Batsto Village is the perfect spot for any type of session – anniversary, engagement or family! The rustic backdrops and open space was the perfect setting with the best sunlight!

This adorable couple met in the summer of 2010 when they both worked at Wawa, they worked separate shifts but had a 15 minute overlap in shift. After a few weeks of flirting, Danielle convinced Tom to go ice skating with her, since he had never gone before. The ice skating itself didn’t go very well, but they been together ever since. At the end of that summer, Danielle went back to campus at Rutgers New Brunswick and Tom stayed in South Jersey. They both really missed each other and realized it wasn’t just a summer fling.

Tom proposed on a lazy Sunday morning. After waking up, Tom made Danielle a delicious breakfast. When Danielle went to go let their two dogs outside, she came back to Tom on his knee. They were married in a rustic barn in North Jersey on a chilly April day in 2016. Tom is not a good dancer and they had spent a few weeks prior practicing their first dance in their living room. On the day of the wedding, it was like they had not practiced. Danielle laughed the entire time.

One thing I loved about this session is Danielle and Tom used items from their wedding day. Those gorgeous red shoes were Danielle’s wedding shoes and Tom’s suit and shoes was what he wore on the wedding day as well <3

Their dream in their marriage is to be happy and they are excited to see what life has in store for them. They celebrated their one year anniversary by dining at the Moshulu in Philadelphia.

Any advice for couple’s on their first year of marriage?

Marry your best friend. Communication is key.

I whole heartedly agree. Danielle and Tom, it was a blast getting to know you two, congratulations on your first year of marriage!

Andrew & Randy’s New Jersey LGBT Wedding

On March 26, 2017, I photographed Andrew and Randy’s beautiful and joyful New Jersey LGBT wedding at David’s Country Inn in Hackettstown.

I absolutely adored spending my morning with two. When I asked them what their favorite memory of the day was? Andrew said, “We chose to help each other get ready and that was so fun and romantic.” I loved shooting this portion of the day as well and agree it was so romantic capturing these two helping each other with their ties, shirt buttons and jackets. These two shared plenty of laughs and it was a perfect way to start their day!

One of my favorite details of the day is that Andrew, a graphic designer designed all the invitations, menu’s, logos, etc! Their beloved pugs appeared throughout their wedding on everything from their escort cards, the card box and their cake topper. I loved this personal touch!

Before the ceremony, we photographed Andrew and Randy with their bridal party, both best men were their brothers and with their family. This group was so happy and excited and I loved seeing how close these two were to their family’s.

The ceremony was just as unique as our couple! They had the chairs in a circle and they both walked in from opposites sides of the room and met in the middle. There were a ton of tears, sweet words and laughs as these two exchanged rings and vows.

Their reception was modern with a rustic touch. I loved the floral centerpieces on their tables as well as the pug cake toppers they chose for their gorgeous Palermo Bakery cake! Their reception was filled with a romantic first dance, hilarious speeches by the brothers and a lively dance floor.

Advice for future couples:

Don’t stress over everything, it’s not worth it. It will always work out in the end.

Now that they’re married, they hope to start traveling more and really enjoy those moments as a married couple. Andrew and Randy will be honeymooning in Prague this Fall!

Thank you to Andrew and Randy for allowing me to capture this wonderful day, I am honored we share the same anniversary! Scroll through to view more from this beautiful New Jersey LGBT Wedding! <3
