WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
July 12, 2017
In May, I photographed Jenna and Mike’s beautiful Skyview Golf Club wedding in Sparta, New Jersey. Jenna and Mike had a purple color scheme for their day and Jenna described the style of the wedding as a Spring botanical vibe, I loved the flowers she chose as well as all her well thought out details throughout the day that showcased this look! Scroll through to hear all about Mike and Jenna and to see my favorite photographs from their Skyview Golf Club wedding!
Jenna, an instructional designer and Mike, an NYPD detective met online and had their first date at the Cheesecake Factory. Mike proposed on Christmas Eve in 2015 in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, Jenna never expected Mike to propose in such a public way, so she was pretty shocked and surprised when it happened!
On the morning of their wedding day, I met Jenna in the brand new bridal suite at the Skyview Golf Club. Hair and makeup were nearly finished and she was so excited to see Mike for the first look. Jenna designed all the invitations, escort cards, signs and menu’s for their wedding day and I loved how everything tied unto her purple botanic theme for the day, I also loved the font she chose!
Once time for the first look, myself and my second photographer brought an excited Mike outside. I LOVED Mike’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time on the wedding day, definitely one of my most favorite first looks ever! After the first look was complete, we used every inch of the Skyview Golf Club for couple and bridal party photos. I love that Skyview has an old rustic barn on the property that is the perfect backdrop for photos – it’s perfect for the rustic bride looking for a barn for her photos!
One of my favorite details of Jenna and Mike’s day was that they chose Mike’s brother to be the officiant of their sweet ceremony Skyview Golf Club Wedding overlooking the golf course. Once the ceremony was complete, we were fortunate enough to steal these two one last time before the reception began and I am so glad we did because the light on this golf course right before sunset is perfect!
What was the hardest part of wedding planning? What was the easiest?
From Jenna: “The hardest part of wedding planning for me was all of the smaller details, like the reception decor and picking out the music. Making decisions about the bigger, more expensive items was actually the easiest part.”
When I asked Jenna what her favorite memory of their wedding day was, she said it was absolutely their first dance! “I have so many wonderful memories, but my favorite is the first dance, which is surprising because I was really nervous about it! Mike and I were really focused on each other, really in the moment, like time stopped for just a few minutes. It was the only time that day when it felt like it was just the two of us in the room.”
Any advice for future couple’s planning?
“If you can, take your time. Mike and I planned our wedding for a year and a half, so we got a ton of stuff done early and had time to save. Being able to pace ourselves really helped us keep our sanity.”
Now that these two are married and back from their Aruba honeymoon, they plan on buying a home and Jenna hopes to add another puppy to the two they already have. They also hope to have children and to continue traveling as a married couple.
Thank you to Jenna and Mike for allowing me to capture your gorgeous Skyview Golf Club wedding! Scroll through to view more of my favorites from their gorgeous day <3
