WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
December 8, 2017
In September, I photographed Darlene and Pedro’s engagement session that featured a very special prop, their vintage Volkswagen bus!
Darlene and Pedro first met in 2012 on OKCupid. After “meeting” online, they chatted via G-Chat and text message for an entire month before their first date in November of 2012 where they ate sushi and saw Skyfall in the movie theatre. On this first date, Darlene knew Pedro was the one when when they both cracked up laughing at the same part of Skyfall that somehow reminded them of Home Alone.
Darlene and Pedro were engaged on 09/04/2016, the proposal from Darlene: “Pedro and I were in Portugal with our friends Donna and Steve. It was our last full day there and we were going to rent bikes for a ride along a path that Pedro and I went to 2 years before. A few minutes into the ride, there’s a huge bridge with an awesome view. Pedro asked me to take a selfie with him, so of course I did. I looked at it, didn’t like it then walked away. Pedro asked me to come back to take another one, so I went over. Out of nowhere, Pedro goes down on one knee with a ring in his hand. He’s known to be a jokester, so I immediately said, “You’re joking. That isn’t real.” When he wasn’t laughing, I got the hint and of course said yes! Steve was taking photos of the entire thing, and yet I had NO idea!”
These two are planning an October 2018 wedding at Phoenixville Foundry, when they are not planning their industrial with a rustic and vintage themed wedding, they are shopping at flea markets, catching movies, traveling, playing mini golf and driving around in one of Pedro’s many Volkswagens!
Any advice for future bride’s planning?
“Don’t stress yourself out by doing everything at once, unless you’re getting married soon! I gave myself deadlines of when to book certain things, and I’m ahead of schedule so far without the hair-pulling stress!”
And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
“I’m really looking forward to marrying Pedro, of course, but also seeing our loved ones all in one place.”
