WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
February 7, 2018
This past Fall, I was Kristen and Mike’s Philadelphia wedding photographer when I photographed their Temple University engagement session! It was only fitting to do their engagement session at the place they first met, which happened to be a Temple football tailgate. Kristen and her friends had been roaming from tailgate to tailgate looking for beer when they stumbled upon Mike and his friends. Mike approached Kristen with a beer and they started talking. Kristen was a commitment phobe but Mike kept trying for months and eventually won her heart. Their first date was at El Camino in Northern Liberties in September of 2013.
Mike knew Kristen was the one when she first visited and stayed with him at his apartment. They enjoyed a night in, drank wine, listened to “Best Hits of the 90’s” Pandora station, and he attempted to make her a perfect grilled cheese sandwich. They laughed all night.
Kristen knew Mike was the one when they had been dating for only a few short months. She had left for a summer internship in Cincinnati shortly after they had officially started dating and he was fully supportive and never complained. They spoke every night and even watched movies together over Skype. He goes out of his way to cheer her up after a long day and he knows how to calm her down when she’s angry. His unwavering support of her and her career really opened her eyes to seeing him as her lifelong partner and friend. He also agreed to let her get a dog (mandatory husband quality)!
Engaged on 05/24/2017, the proposal from Kristen: “I was in Germany for a 12 week work assignment. Mike and I were separated for the first 10 weeks. After living together for almost 2 years, waking up and falling asleep next to that person, this was a really tough adjustment. As always, he was completely supportive and encouraged me to seize the opportunity and explore the world. Mike flew into Munich on our 3 year anniversary. After dropping his bags off at my apartment, we went for a walk in the English Garden in Munich and we were crossing over a bridge with locks, engraved with peoples initials, attached to the bridge. He said “I didn’t bring a lock but I brought something else” and proposed. I was SHOCKED because he had just gotten off the plane like 35 minutes before. He also “fake” proposed in public like 1000 times before so I was totally surprised. We spent the next 2 weeks of our “engagement moon” traveling to Amsterdam, Italy, and exploring Germany.”
Kristen and Mike are planning a vintage romantic wedding at Scotland Run for September of 2018. When these two are not wedding planning, they are playing with their beloved puppy, Mia. They also enjoy going out in the city and trying new restaurants and new types of cuisine, their favorite is Korean BBQ. They love making their own hot sauce in their kitchen and they love trying new local breweries and sour beers. Once they’re married, they would love to start a family in a not-so-far off future but not entirely too soon either! Before they start their family, they hope to travel around the United States to different cities, as vacation time from work allows, of course! They will continue to attend Temple games and Eagles games during football season and will enjoy their favorite past time – tailgating.
Any advice for future bride’s planning?
You can’t and will never make everyone happy, everyone will have an opinion and yours is the most important.
And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
Having all our friends and family in the same place at once to celebrate our marriage…and the french fry bar at cocktail hour!
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
