WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
June 15, 2018
Last weekend, I photographed Laura and Benson’s wedding celebration at the Montclair Art Museum in Montclair, New Jersey. I first met Laura and Benson over two years ago at Laura’s brother’s Skyview Golf Club wedding. These two never left the dance floor at Leigh and Matt’s wedding and were hands down the best dancers there, so when Laura reached out asking me to document her and Benson’s wedding celebration, I immediately said “yes” and couldn’t wait!
Laura and Benson recently relocated from Boston to Philly so she can do her residency here. Right after their Philadelphia move, I was able to capture some sweet engagement and family photos with their adorable son, Hugo. The engagement session was a walk down memory lane for these two, we started at the bar Bob and Barbara’s where these two first met in January 2014. After serving in the Peace Corp for 10 years in Tanzania, Laura was hosting a benefit for the country and Benson, born in Tanzania was in attendance. This bar was serving the “Citywide Special” that night, a can of PBR and a shot of Jim Beam and these two chatted all night over this drink of choice, which was also served at their wedding celebration! Their session continued at another bar called Time, then we stopped on South Broad for the iconic City Hall photo, Love Park and finally at the Art Museum!
I met Laura and Benson at the Montclair Art Museum on their day, there was no first look, but it was so fun watching Laura excitedly say hello to all their family and friends who had gathered at the museum. Benson had a lot of family travel from near and far and everyone was so excited to see Laura in her dress and to see their adorable son, Hugo. After sweet couple and family photos, Benson’s brother Wole officiated their ceremony. It was short and sweet and these two danced down the aisle after they were pronounced husband and wife and they didn’t stop dancing at their reception either! Thankfully Vision Event Company kept the dance floor packed and after sweet speeches and a few Tanzanian customs, these two were back on the dance floor! I had such a blast capturing this celebration!
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
