WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
June 25, 2020
Last weekend, I had the honor of photographing Nicole and Evan’s sweet microwedding in Long Beach Island. These two had planned a June 20, 2020 wedding at Scotland Run Golf Club and they were not going to let a worldwide pandemic stop them from having their special day!
Nicole and Evan met at DeSales University. He transferred there after the first semester of his freshman year. His friend from high school, Alec was dating one of Nicole’s college best friends, Katie at the time. They spent a lot of time together because of that couple, however they were both in other relationships at the time and were just friends. Those relationships eventually ended and the rest is history. They always refer to their first date as their “first not date”, which was at TJI Fridays on Valentine’s Day in 2013. Evan’s friend Alec wanted to spend Valentine’s Day with Katie so Evan asked Nicole if she would get food with him that night since he “had no where to go or no one to hang out with” but she’s convinced it wasn’t their first date.
Engaged on 09/22/2018, the proposal from Nicole: “I worked the morning of that day, Evan told me we were going to LBI because his parents were looking at houses to buy, he took me on the beach, while his parents “were on the phone with the realtor” and asked me to spend the rest of his life with him. Then after I heard people screaming, I turned around (half annoyed) and said “omg who are those people?!” And Ev said “all your friends and family!” His parents rented a huge house overlooking where he proposed and all my best friends and family were all there! Hands down the best day of my life. All my friends and family also like to say the night before while they were setting up and getting ready was the best day of their lives!”
Their microwedding ceremony took place at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Cherry Hill, NJ. There had been a threat for rain in the area all week and as the bride and groom arrived separately, it was down pouring with high winds and thunderstorms, but we didn’t care, the ceremony was inside and we knew there was a 0% chance of rain in LBI. Once they were married, we had a perfect bubble exit and once again, we beat the rain.
Once they finished exiting the church, we drove to LBI for portraits where there were PERFECT beach conditions! We had the best light and there was only a light breeze. I haven’t been this lucky with beach photos in a long time! I photographed Nicole and Evan’s family, bridal party and couple portraits at the exact same location they were engaged and where we had their engagement session in Beach Haven, NJ. We concluded their photo session on the beach with photos with their energetic puppy, sweet speeches by their maid of honor and best man followed by a champagne toast before these two partied the night away at their private residence.
When Nicole reached out to me about rescheduling their June wedding to January, she asked me to still photograph their microwedding on their original date and her response was the best, she said, “I am so excited to have both beach AND winter wedding photos!”. It seems as though Nicole and Evan are already so lucky in their marriage. Thank you so much for allowing me to play such an important role in your special day, I cannot wait to photograph the big reception in January at Scotland Run Golf Club.
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
