Last week, I photographed Taylor and Trevor’s 4th of July Wedding at Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown, NJ! There’s something extra magical about a wedding that falls on the eve of a holiday — especially when that holiday is the Fourth of July. This wedding at Scotland Run Golf Club was the perfect blend of classic elegance, heartfelt moments, and an unforgettable surprise that lit up the night sky.
Taylor and Trevor opted for a timeless black and white color palette that set a romantic and refined tone throughout the day. From the sleek black suits to the delicate white and light pink florals, every detail was beautifully understated and sophisticated — a true nod to their style as a couple. Scotland Run’s stunning grounds provided the perfect backdrop, with its lush green fairways and garden ceremony space creating a serene, storybook setting.
One of the most emotional parts of the day was the ceremony. My couple chose not to do a first look, allowing the walk down the aisle to be the moment they saw each other for the first time. And it was worth the wait. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight as they exchanged deeply personal and heartfelt vows.
As the reception kicked off, guests enjoyed dinner and dancing in the beautiful recently updated ballroom. Just when everyone thought the night couldn’t get any more special, the couple had one more surprise in store: a private fireworks display! As bursts of color lit up the sky behind them, guests gathered outside on the balcony over looking the golf course in awe. It was the perfect way to celebrate not only their new beginning but the holiday weekend as well.
Taylor and Trevor met through a mutual friend at The College of New Jersey where Trevor went to college and their first date was at a taco restaurant in Seaside Heights, NJ in the summer of 2017.
Taylor knew Trevor was the one when she realized she never got tired of being around him. She wanted to spend every minute of each day with him and he became her best friend very quickly. Trevor knew Taylor was the one when he realized that he had much more fun at events with her than he did without her and that he didn’t want to go a day without talking to her.
Engaged 12/3/2023, the proposal from Trevor: “To propose to Taylor, I planned a weekend in NYC framed as a trip for my birthday. In the morning we drove into the city, went to the Balloon Museum exhibition, got lunch in Times Square at The Counter, and then went to Central Park. The entire day I had been walking around with the ring in my pocket and coordinating with a photographer to capture the proposal under the Dalehead Arch in Central Park after finding out that my original proposal spot at Bow Bridge in Central Park had started construction two days prior. The rest of the afternoon we took photos around the park and then went back to our hotel in Tribeca. I then surprised her with dinner at Sant Ambroeus Brookfield which I had invited our parents up to celebrate.”
When Taylor and Trevor weren’t planning their 4th of July wedding, they love to watch tv and movies, go to the beach, play games, and cook dinner. Now married, their dreams include traveling to their dream destinations such as Ireland, Italy, and Germany. They cannot wait to start a family of their own and watch their kids and grandkids grow up!
Their advice to couples currently planning is to not sweat the small stuff, have fun and make it how YOU want it! And finally, they were most looking forward to being married and getting to celebrate with their friends and family! Taylor and Trevor, enjoy your honeymoon in St Lucia!
This wedding was a reminder of what truly makes a day memorable — not just the details (though they were stunning!), but the emotion, the love, and the unexpected moments that take your breath away. Photographing this day was an absolute honor, and I’ll be thinking about that surprise fireworks finale for a long time to come. Thank you Taylor and Trevor for choosing me to photograph your 4th of July Wedding at Scotland Run Golf Club!
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
