WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
December 16, 2015
Last October, I photographed Elaina and Robert’s George Weir Barn Wedding on Long Island. Elaina and I went to high school together, so this wedding was extra special for me to photograph. I have known Elaina for over a decade, but I first met Robert almost exactly a year prior at their engagement shoot. These two were so in love and so cute then that I knew there were going to be fireworks on their day!
I started the day with the girls at a nearby hotel. Elaina was one of those brides who thought about every single small detail, which ended up being absolutely perfect.
Everything between them was so meaningful down to the cards they wrote to each other. I loved Elaina’s face when she read her card from Robert.
While I spent the morning with the ladies, my second shooter, Lin spent some time with Robert and the gentlemen. Robert was equally as excited as Elaina and I loved seeing his reactions to the card she had written for him.
Elaina and Robert were traditional with their day and opted not to see each other prior to their ceremony at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington, NY. The ceremony was sweet and the priest was hilarious. I love ceremonies that have me giggling behind my camera!
One of my favorite parts from our time at the church was the leaf throwing exit they planned. There were so many leaves and so many laughs and smiles, such a cute idea for a Fall wedding!
Once the ceremony was over, we headed to the barn and immediately jumped into their couple and bridal family photos. We used every inch of the barns grounds and the barn itself was such a gorgeous back drop for photos!
Elaina and Robert worked feverishly to decorate the barn the week of their wedding. Again, Elaina thought of everything – down to blankets for the guests in case they got cold! Their tables were thoughtfully decorated with candelabras and gorgeous floral centerpieces and everyone went home with a small white pumpkin and apple cidar donuts as favors.
Once cocktail hour was over, this barn shook all night! This group knew how to party and their guests danced nearly every minute of the evening! These two were clearly loved by all and the kind words in their speeches made that clear. The night was also emotional with sweet dedication dances and parent dances.
But before the night ended, I was able to sneak Elaina and Robert outside of the barn for a few romantic night photos, this is always one of my favorite ways to end a wedding!
Thank you to Elaina and Robert for allowing me to capture your magical day, I love these images and hope you do too! <3
