WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
January 28, 2020
Last September, I photographed Delphine and Peter’s engagement shoot at their Longwood Gardens photo session. I actually met Delphine and Peter back in 2017 at Shannan and Sebastien’s wedding, she is Sebastien’s sister and also served as a bridesmaid!
Delphine and Peter first met in October 2014 at Penn State when she was a sophomore and Peter was a senior. Although they were both in different times of their lives and Peter was getting ready to graduate, they were lucky enough to share mutual friends. It was a typical Friday night at Penn State, Peter was hanging out with friends and Delphine was planning on staying in for a quiet night; however, with enough convincing from friends, she decided to get dressed up and have a fun night out. That was the night they met, but it was really until the song ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift was playing; their eyes met and from that moment on, they were inseparable.
Their first date was the same week they met. Neither had classes on that Friday afternoon, so they met at Noodles in State College. After lunch, they spent the rest of the day together talking and getting to know one other.
Engaged on 05/02/2019, the proposal from Delphine: “Peter proposed on a Thursday afternoon in our apartment. I was busy at school presenting a project and Peter was “doing things.” I knew something was up when he was being really vague about what he was doing that morning. However, I did not think too much of it because it was a random Thursday and I had an exam the next day. I was wrong. I came home and Peter called me over to help him with something, and there he was, on one knee! I was totally caught by surprise and as Peter started telling me how much he loved me, I guess I cut him off and just hugged and kissed him in excitement; he said that was OK because he felt like he lost his ability to speak as he was so nervous/ excited. Shortly after, we celebrated just the two of us at a French restaurant near where we live.”
Delphine and Peter are planning a romantic and elegant wedding at The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm this September. When these two are not wedding planning, they love to cook and going out to eat! One of their favorite things to make together is homemade pizzas and they try to come up with new toppings every time. They also enjoy going on runs and hike’s together with their dog, Jackson (who made a cameo in their Longwood Gardens photo session!). Once married, their dream is to have a happy and love-filled marriage and to grow old and gray together. They also hope to have children in the future. They would love to travel together as a family and to visit various parts of the world.
Any advice for future bride’s planning?
Have fun! It can be easy to get caught up in the little details, but at the end of the day, your wedding will be beautiful and you will be surrounded with the ones who love you most!
And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
Delphine: Celebrating with our families and closest friends. Peter: To have all of our nearest and dearest celebrating in the same room.
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
