WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
February 7, 2022
Last Spring, I photographed Jen and Ed’s Longwood Gardens Spring Engagement Session. We chose this stunning location as the backdrop as my happy couple loves the look of flowers and greenery which is also how they ended up choosing their wedding venue, Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown, NJ!
Jen and Ed met on the men’s club volleyball team in college when she joined with some friends because there was no women’s team. Ed joined the team to meet new people on campus and Jen always jokes that he probably never thought he would meet his future wife on a men’s sports team! They started out as friends until he asked her to attend his military ball with him. From there, they began getting to know one another better and better until they went on their official first date about a month before the ball. He took her to a local Italian restaurant followed by a movie. His siblings, who live locally, played a prank on them and moved Ed’s car while they were eating. From that day, she knew they would be a fun family to be around!
Jen knew Ed was the one when he started going away for month long military trainings and she just didn’t feel the same when he wasn’t there, she would count the days until he came home! Ed knew Jen was the one when they started spending more time together and he couldn’t picture himself with anyone else. They were always laughing and having fun and he knew she was the one that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
The proposal from Jen: “Due to COVID Ed’s proposal plans kept getting rescheduled and changing. Finally after a third changed plan he decided to propose at home on Christmas Eve so we would not have to enter a new year still not engaged! We ordered in from my favorite Thai restaurant and spent the night driving around looking at Christmas lights which is my favorite holiday activity. He had me open one gift that night and it was a miniature volleyball which he then went on to talk about how we met and lead into the proposal.”
When these two are not planning their simple and classic Scotland Run Golf Club wedding, they both like going out and trying new things. After college, they moved to Virginia together so they are always going out and trying new coffeeshops, restaurants, and wineries around the state. She is a nurse working in outpatient oncology at a local hospital and Ed works as a contractor for the department of the Army. Once married, they are excited to spend the beginning of their marriage traveling and having many new adventures together before they settle down and have 2-3 kids.
Thank you to Bella Angel Hair and Makeup in Philly for Jen’s gorgeous hair and makeup!
Any advice for future couple’s planning?
Take your time and enjoy the process! We make sure to discuss other things and not spend all of our time wedding planning and take the time to just enjoy being engaged.
And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
We are excited to spend time with all of our families and friends and celebrate starting the next chapter in our lives. I personally am excited to see Ed’s reaction during our first look!
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
