WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >

On Saturday, I photographed Alex and Mike’s gorgeous rustic Spring wedding at Running Deer Golf Club! We had the best day ever on the golf course with these two – beautiful light, huge smiles on my couple, a two piece Watters wedding dress, tons of DIY details, plus a personal ceremony created the perfect day to photograph. I am so excited to share their Running Deer Golf Club wedding!
Alex and Mike both went to Millersville University and knew of each other since they had mutual friends, but never met. They finally met when Alex moved back home to New Jersey and saw Mike sitting on a friends couch and have been friends ever since! After a few years as friends, many adventures and some occasional flirting later (and endless not so subtle hints from friends and family), Mike and Alex started dating when they had their first official date at Prospectors in Mount Laurel in 2016.
Alex knew Mike was the one pretty quickly, she loved his sense of humor, his big heart and the way he treated her family. It was that trifecta and after they said “I love you” for the first time that she knew for sure. Mike knew Alex was the one when they were able to do different things that they each loved separately, together.
The proposal from the couple: “We went to Ricketts Glenn in Pennsylvania for a weekend getaway to hike. It was September 29, 2017, the day before our big hike and Mike took me to a smaller hiking trail. It was the evening we drove up. We were walking along and Alex thought it was strange Mike was lagging behind when usually he’s leading the way. Alex loves taking pictures and had her nice camera. Mike told me to come back to where he was because there was a really good reflection in the water and said it would make a good picture. When Alex walked back he was pointing at the water and there was her mother’s ring. He asked her to marry him and she said YES!
Alex and Mike planned a rustic spring wedding at Running Deer Golf Club filled with DIY touches. Mike, a school shop teacher, built a ton of their decor. Everything from the escort card holder to a ladder with lights to cocktail hour games! Even their centerpieces were created by Mike! When I walked into bride prep on this sunny and warm Spring day, I was greeted by the sweetest group of ladies and knew the day was going to be special. I adored all of Alex’s details, especially her two piece Watters gown! I also loved the way they incorporated their color scheme of blush, green and gold into their day.
After two first looks, one with Mike and then one with Alex’s father, we hopped onto golf carts and drove all over for the spots that Michael and Alexandra liked best! I had so much fun laughing with these two and the smiles and laughs that Alex gave were incredibly contagious, she had the perfect smile! They paid tribute to Alex’s late mother throughout their Running Deer Golf Club wedding day by incorporating her into ceremony details as well as reception details, items she had knitted were draped over crates with flowers at the ceremony and there was a seat dedicated to her.
My outdoorsy couple love to hike and walk and explore new trails with their dog Junior. They also love to cook, go boating, and they love Philly sports. Adventure is Alex’s favorite word and Mike makes life an adventure for sure.
These two have a Costa Rican honeymoon planned for this Summer and once back from their honeymoon, they hope to continue to travel, have kids (eventually) and find their dream home. They hope to build a life together exploring new things and always staying active!
Thank you to Alexandra and Michael for allowing me to capture your beautiful day!
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
