WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
June 9, 2022
Last weekend, I photographed Carly and Nick’s classic wedding at The Shore Club in Spring Lake, New Jersey! Their Classic and elegant wedding showcased their personalities and it was important to my happy couple to enjoy the day with their families and close friends who have supported them throughout their lives. They had a traditional ceremony at St. Catharine’s Church followed by portraits at Divine Park in Spring Lake before partying the night away with their fun band, the Mike Dalton Band! My favorite detail of the day was Carly’s wings! Instead of a veil, she had two long wings attached to the shoulders of her dress that looked like two long cathedral veils, such a unique touch on their classic day.
Carly and Nick first met at Rutgers University through one of Carly’s college roommates who had met Nick a few years prior when they had a class together. Their first date was at Garden State Ale House in New Brunswick in September of 2016. Carly and Nick knew they had found the one when they realized how comfortable they were around one another and how easy it was to talk to each other. It felt that they had known one another forever.
Engaged on 03/20/2021, the proposal: “We had plans to go out to lunch on a Saturday in March around noon. When Nick arrived to pick Carly up she was in the middle of a workout and clearly not ready to leave. After taking a quick shower Carly left for lunch with wet hair and no makeup clearly having no idea what was to come. After lunch we decided to walk around Spring lake. We parked near the church Carly grew up in and walked over a bridge where Nick stopped and proposed! One of Carly’s best friends and her sister were hiding behind a tree taking pictures. We headed back to Carly’s house where her close friends and both of our families were waiting to celebrate.” And we used that same bridge in Divine Park for photos on their wedding day!
Carly loves and admires Nick’s discipline and work ethic. Not many people see how hard he works towards his goals without complaint. And Nick loves how Carly unfailingly allows him to be himself, no matter how annoying he can get. On that note, she is extremely patient with his less-flattering qualities and personal long-term goals.
Carly, a pharmacist and Nick, a resident physician are huge Yankee fans and love watching almost every game together, they also have a Friday tradition of watching Diners Drive Ins and Dives together. They enjoy cooking together and have gotten very good at it – except for the time they accidentally used powdered sugar instead of flour when making chicken parmesan! Now married, their dreams include traveling and enjoying time as just the two of them before starting their family. They have dreams of growing old together on a wraparound front porch of a home on a tree lined street.
Their advice for couple’s currently planning is to hire Carly’s mother! She can plan a wedding in 6 days flat. Carly and Nick were most looking forward to having all of the people they love in one place to celebrate the beginning of the rest of their lives.
Mr and Mrs Choman are currently honeymooning in Hawaii, thank you to Carly and Nick for choosing me to photograph your The Shore Club wedding!
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
