Last weekend, I photographed Kait and Zach’s classic Moorestown Community House wedding in my hometown of Moorestown, NJ! I absolutely adore photographing weddings at this historic and charming venue. Kait and Zach had a beautiful winter day for their wedding and they had a color palette of navy blue and gray with a mauve accent.
Zach is Kait’s cousin’s best friend from college. Zach grew up in Minnesota and would come to her grandparent’s house for holidays when he couldn’t get home. Kait’s step mom had been telling her forever that she should meet him, but the thought of meeting a guy her parents approved of made her roll her eyes! But then Christmas Day 2015 arrived and finally she and Zach met.
Kait and Zach had their first date on September 17, 2016. They met up in Astoria at a local restaurant, Sekend Sun. After two hours of talking non stop, they walked down to the Astoria Socrates sculpture park, where there happened to be a performance art piece occurring. Zach got pulled into the piece immediately and he hammed it up and played along, all while Kait stood there giggling! She of course had to say yes to a second date after that!
Engaged on 03/30/2019, the proposal from Kaitlynn: “Zach surprised me with a trip out to Long Beach, Long Island. That’s where I had been living when we first started dating and we had loved spending time there together before I moved into Astoria with Zach. We walked along the board walk and played a memory game like we used to on our long walks. Finally, we came to the bench that we always used to sit on and watch the ocean. Zach had a speech prepared and then got down on one knee and proposed with my great grandmother’s ring, that my family had graciously given us.”
Kait and Zach’s Moorestown Community House wedding began with bride prep on the second floor of this historic building. I loved capturing Kait and her happy bridesmaids having fun and sipping wine before Kait got dressed with the help of her maid of honor, mother and step mother. While the ladies were in the bridal suite, Zach was with his groomsmen in the groom’s room. I loved capturing the guys hanging out, getting dressed and taking a toast before the first look. Kait and Zach had an emotional first look in the front of the Community House and once these two wiped away their tears, we used every inch of the grounds both indoors and outdoors for couple photos. Once bridal party and family portraits were complete, it was time for their indoor ceremony in the library. One of the reasons they chose the Moorestown Community House as their wedding venue was because of the library and it was the perfect spot for their highly personal ceremony. Their friend and husband of one of Kait’s bridesmaids was the officiant and there was not a dry eye in the audience as they read their sweet vows to one another. Their Moorestown Community House reception decor was filled with DIY details, a sweet first dance that invited all their guests to join, hilarious and sweet speeches plus a dance floor that was nonstop thanks to All Occasions Entertainment!
My couple planned a classic wedding with DIY details that had a color palette of blue and gray with a mauve accent. Their flowers were silk and the colors matched their color palette perfectly. Kait’s classic silk ballgown wedding dress from Kleinfeld’s with a touch of lace on the back was the perfect detail and fit the vintage feel of the Moorestown Community House beautifully.
Now that these two have finished planning their Moorestown Community House wedding, their dream is to find a home to call their own and to start a family. They want to be there for each other through all the ups and downs and support each other in growing to be the best people they can be. These two are off a trip to St. Petersburg, FL for some down time, enjoy your mini-moon!
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
