Every year, I am so excited to share my best of weddings blog post and 2020 is no different! This year was one for the books, it began with two beautiful winter weddings before all weddings were halted due to the pandemic and stay at home orders. After February, I didn’t photograph another wedding until June which was my longest break ever in weddings and while I saw so many of my couples force to cancel and reschedule their weddings, I was able to document an additional 15 couples this year say “I do”. Not a single one of those weddings were what my couples originally planned – between venue changes, smaller guest counts, indoor weddings moved outdoors, they were still perfect in their own way.
2020 was also the year of the microwedding! Out of the 17 weddings I photographed in 2020, many of those were microweddings. Prior to 2020, I just didn’t have time in my busy wedding schedule to take on smaller weddings, but with all my 2020 postponements, I was able to photograph several of them. While I love big wedding celebrations, it was a nice change of pace to photograph intimate ones as well. I saw so much resilience in my couples and the tag line from 2020, “love is not canceled” played a huge part in my year.
I also love tent weddings more than ever and had quite a few this year, seeing how some venues repurpose their spaces to make them safe was one of the best things I saw in 2020! Some of the beautiful venues that allowed my couples to do tent weddings were the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm, Renault Winery and Windows on the Water at Frogbridge. I also saw The Hamilton Manor, Old York Country Club and the Atlantic City Country Club come up with safe outdoor options for my couples.
