Elena & Ryan’s David’s Country Inn Wedding

There are some wedding venues that simply do the work for you when it comes to wedding portraits, and David’s Country Inn is one of them. Built in 1840, this historic mansion provided the most beautiful backdrop for Elena and Ryan’s September wedding, with every corner of the property offering something completely different to photograph.

From ivy-covered walls and grand staircases to a charming porch and a beautifully decorated ceremony space, we made our way around the property throughout the day and took full advantage of everything David’s Country Inn had to offer.

And with a beautiful, sunny, summer like September day, the setting couldn’t have been better.

A Timeless September Wedding at David’s Country Inn

Elena and Ryan chose a beautiful color palette of sage and olive greens, cream, butter yellow, and soft blush. The combination felt both timeless and perfectly suited to the historic character of the venue.

Elena got ready in the Warren Suite, and she looked absolutely stunning. Her bridal look was classic and timeless, the kind of look that will still feel beautiful decades from now. Ryan got ready in the Bunker Suite before meeting Elena for the next part of their day.

But there was one very important member of the wedding party who was getting ready for her big moment too. Summer.

Summer Was a Very Important Part of the Day

Ryan’s dog, Summer, played a huge role in their wedding day, and honestly, she took her job very seriously.

She was there for family photos, joined the bridal party for portraits, and then had perhaps the most important job of all: walking Ryan down the aisle.

And she didn’t just make an appearance during the ceremony. Summer stood alongside Elena and Ryan at the altar for the entire ceremony. Having a dog be such an important part of a wedding day is always special, but watching Summer be included in so many of the day’s biggest moments made it even more meaningful. She wasn’t just a guest. She was part of the story.

Portraits Around the Historic Property

One of my favorite things about photographing a David’s Country Inn Wedding is how much variety there is throughout the property and we used every inch of it.

The historic stairs created one beautiful portrait backdrop, while the ivy-covered walls gave us another completely different look. We also photographed on the quaint porch and around the ceremony site, which was beautifully decorated with florals cascading around the fireplace.

Each location added something different to their gallery while still feeling cohesive with the character of the historic mansion.

And because we were blessed with such a gorgeous September day, we were able to take advantage of all that beautiful natural light. The sun was shining, temperatures felt more like summer, and Elena and Ryan had the perfect conditions for portraits.

The result was a gallery filled with a mix of timeless portraits, candid moments, architectural details, and images that really capture the feeling of their day.

A Ceremony That Was Completely Them

Elena and Ryan’s ceremony was personal, meaningful, and completely them. One of Elena’s bridesmaids gave a speech about the couple, sharing stories about their relationship and giving everyone a glimpse into the people they are together.

But one of my favorite moments came when Elena and Ryan each drank a glass of wine to celebrate their relationship. It was such a simple gesture, but it felt so perfectly suited to them. A toast to the life they’ve built together and everything still to come.

And, of course, Summer was right there with them at the altar.

Then Ryan Hit the Dance Floor

Once the formalities were over, it was time to celebrate. And Ryan was ready. He was the life of the party and seemingly never left the dance floor. From the beginning of the reception until the end, he was right in the middle of the celebration, surrounded by friends and family and having the absolute best time.

It’s always fun when a couple truly lets loose at their reception, and Ryan made sure there was never a shortage of energy on the dance floor.

Elena and Ryan’s wedding had everything that makes a celebration memorable: a beautiful historic venue, thoughtful details, meaningful moments, a very important dog, and a couple who clearly knows how to have a great time together.

A Day Full of Meaningful Moments

From Elena getting ready in the Warren Suite to Ryan arriving at the ceremony with Summer by his side, every part of this wedding day felt intentional without ever feeling overly complicated. That’s one of my favorite things about weddings: it’s the little personal details that make the day uniquely yours.

For Elena and Ryan, that meant incorporating Summer into the biggest moments, choosing a venue with history and character, celebrating their relationship with a glass of wine during their ceremony, and then spending the rest of the night surrounded by the people they love.

Their David’s Country Inn Wedding was beautiful, but more importantly, it felt like them.

Congratulations, Elena and Ryan! Thank you for allowing me to be part of such a beautiful September celebration. And Summer, you officially win the award for best dog wedding guest!
