Kara and Christian’s Jersey Shore engagement session was the perfect blend of coastal romance and effortless fun. My happy couple chose this location in Avalon for their Jersey Shore Engagement Session because Christian’s family has a house on 67th street in Avalon and they spend most weekends down there. They are getting married in Stone Harbor so it was a no brainer to have these portraits photographed in their favorite place to spend their Summer weekends.

Kara and Christian met at Manhattan College. They had mutual friends but never really interacted until their senior year. Christian’s friend had FaceTimed Kara’s friend and she answered the call, quickly his friend tossed the phone to Christian and he was being shy and was wondering why they were on the phone and she quickly said ‘because we are both single’! Shortly after, they were at the same party, Kara asked for his number and the rest is history!

Their first date was November 11, 2018 at Black Tap in New York City, they had milkshakes and fries to share – turns out Christian is lactose intolerant but knew she loved ice cream and fries!

Engaged on October 19, 2024, the proposal: Kara’s dad is a football coach, and his birthday is October 18th. With everyone’s schedules, getting all of Kara’s siblings together at the same time isn’t easy, so Christian knew he had to plan everything carefully without making Kara suspicious.

That Friday night, we all went to Kara’s dad’s football game, then decided to head to brunch the next morning to celebrate his birthday. We chose Westbrook, Connecticut – a place that holds so much meaning for Kara’s family, who grew up renting a beach house there. Brunch was at Water’s Edge, a resort right on the water.

We arrived in a separate car from Kara’s parents and got there “before” them. Since it was the most perfect October day – sunny, 70 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky – Kara, Christian, and her sisters went down by the water. Kara’s sister asked for a photo, which felt strange because she had been complaining about her outfit all day. Then Christian asked for a photo too. After the picture, Christian turned to Kara, said a bunch of things neither of us can fully remember, and got down on one knee.

What Kara didn’t know was that the rest of her family and Christian’s family who had traveled from Delaware were waiting inside. They all came out right after to celebrate, which was the biggest and best surprise.

Funny enough, we both couldn’t remember if Christian actually got down on one knee…so he did it again only to later watch the video and realize he definitely did the first time!

We spent the rest of the day enjoying a beautiful brunch with our families and continued celebrating back at Kara’s house. It was truly the most perfect day.

Christian, a financial analyst and Kara, a Talent Acquisition are tying the knot in June of 2026 and are planning a beachy yet elegant and romantic wedding at The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor. They are most looking forward to finally being married and having all of their favorite people in one room dancing the night away while celebrating them.
