WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
November 22, 2019
Last weekend, I photographed Kelly and Tom’s The Waterfall Wedding in Claymont, DE. Kelly and Tom had a beautiful winter like day for their wedding and had a hunter green, navy and ivory color palette. These two were one of my happiest couples ever and I can still hear Kelly’s laugh when I look at their photos. They had a traditional Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Folsom, PA followed by a fun portrait session at Citizens Bank Park before they partied the night away at their elegant The Waterfall wedding!
It was 2004 and Kelly’s sister, Jamie-Lyn was at a house party waiting for her to arrive. Jamie-Lyn’s high school friend Tom was there and he had noticed a girl walk into the room looking for her sister. Creating an opportunity, Tom reached out to catch up with Jamie. In the process, he met Kelly and said, “How ya doin? I’m Tom.” She replied with a smile and said, ”Kelly, it’s nice to meet you”. Their encounter would be brief but only a start. Soon after, life seemed to move on, there was graduation, college, careers and all of the other adventures the teens and twenties can offer. But still the thought of one another lingered.
Finally many years later, a Facebook message would finally bring these two together and they started their relationship slow with a casual movie, then dinner with a carriage ride in the city. They acted boldly because “if it worked it would be one heck of a story”.
Kelly and Tom’s elegant The Waterfall wedding began with getting ready at a local hotel. When I arrived my excited bride had her hair in curlers and her large group of ladies were hanging out eating pizza while getting final touches on hair and makeup. My favorite detail of the morning was Kelly’s beautiful dress! It was a classic ballgown by Romona Keveza with stunning lace on the bodice, it was the perfect compliment to their hunter green, navy and ivory color palette. Once dressed, it was time for the traditional Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Folsom, PA. After these two said “I do” in front of their friends and family, everyone hopped into the limo and we headed to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia for portraits at the Phillies stadium! This was a surprise to their bridal party and I enjoyed photographing everyone on the field, in the club house and in the media room. It was a fun way to make the day even more special for their close group of friends and family.
Once we arrived at their Waterfall wedding, we captured romantic night portraits of my couple outside and on the dance floor before the guests arrived for the party! Once these two made their grand entrance, there was a romantic first dance followed by sweet speeches and an Eagles chant! Once the formalities concluded, this group never left the dance floor! I absolutely loved capturing Kelly and Tom’s The Waterfall wedding!
I hope you two are enjoying your Mexican honeymoon! <3
