WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
January 18, 2018
Last weekend, I photographed Kelsey and Matt’s Three Village Inn Wedding! They had a gorgeous winter day with a ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church followed by a classic reception filled with vintage rustic charm at the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook, NY. Kelsey is one of my dear friends and I am so excited to share their wedding!
Kelsey and Matt first met when they were in high school, but did not begin dating until 2008. Matt is a musician and they reconnected at one of his band’s shows. Kelsey and her friend went to an after party following the show, and when she lost her ride home, Matt wouldn’t let her walk home by herself so instead, he walked her home. What a romantic! Kelsey knew she loved Matt after only a few months. But, she knew he was the one when she saw how well he fit in with her tight knit family. She says it was just natural. Everyone loved Matt as much as she did. After photographing their engagement session last March, you’ll see why she feels this way about Matt!
Engaged on 12/21/16, the proposal from Kelsey: “I was working late because it was our employee holiday event at work. I was tired and cranky and couldn’t wait to get home. I walked into the house and Matt was waiting with our dog Betty. He asked me to come stand in a certain spot in the living room. All I was thinking was that I wanted to put my bag and my coat down. He wouldn’t let it go. So I stood in the spot. Then he got down on one knee and I said yes!”
When Kelsey and Matt are not wedding planning, they like to go to the beach with their dog, Betty, they love going to concerts together and never miss a Korn show (they even were introduced as husband and wife at their Three Village Inn wedding to Korn!), they also enjoy their backyard fire pit and drinking wine. Kelsey and Matt spent the first few days as husband and wife on a mini-moon in New York City and leave on Valentines Day for their California honeymoon. Now married, they are looking forward to starting a family. They want to build a happy home full of love and want to grow into older versions of themselves. And true to their rock and roll souls, they want to ride their motorcycles off into the sunset together as two happy old people still very much in love. <3
Kelsey and Matt were most looking forward to the dancing and the party at their Three Village Inn wedding!! They are dancing fiends and always tear up the dance floor at their friend’s and family’s weddings and now it’s finally their turn to tear it up as husband and wife. These two did not leave the dance floor, Kelsey danced with her friends and nieces all night and Matt had one or two head banging moments on the dance floor! My favorite moment of their Three Village Inn wedding reception was the father daughter dance; after the traditional dance, Kelsey’s entire family (all 14 of them!) came out in Hawaiian leis and they danced to “Ohana Means Family”, this was a total surprise to Kelsey and her tears of shock and happiness was one of my favorite moments I captured all day! This dance was followed by another super sweet moment when Matt’s father sang a special song for Matt to dance with his mother to, it was such an emotional moment for us to capture!
Special thank you to Josh DeHonney for being my second shooter all day and for allowing me to enjoy myself at the reception! <3 Here is a special photo of Derek and I with the happy bride and groom, courtesy of Josh!
