Last weekend, I photographed Kelly and Gavin’s Appleford Wedding in Villanova, PA. Due to the pandemic, these two were forced to reschedule their October 2020 wedding and they waited an extra 364 days to celebrate their day. My handsome groom’s are nature lover’s so their outdoor wedding at this gorgeous historical estate was the perfect day and worth the year long wait!
Gavin and Kelly met online through Bumble. The two shared lengthy conversations about the great outdoors and what sparked their passion to protect these natural spaces. Given the distance between them, they met halfway for their first date at a local eatery in upstate New York. After dining, the two strolled downtown and found themselves at wine confectionery where live music was being played. As smooth jazz lingered in the background, hours flew by as they sipped liquor and shared their life experiences. It was hard to say goodbye, especially since the night ended with a farewell kiss. Little did they know, they’d frequent this place as it became a favorite for the couple.
Engaged on 06/16/2019, the proposal from the happy couple: “On a weekend getaway to the coast of Maine, the two explored Acadia National Park and hiked to the summit of Beehive trail. Unbeknownst to him, Kelly carried the backpack holding the ring up the entire mountain which gave Gavin intense anxiety. At the peak, the sunshine glimmered over the wooded landscape and painted the perfect backdrop of this treasured memory. After snapping a pic (for Instagram, of course), Kelly turned towards Gavin once he claimed “a present is awaiting”. Tears ran passed Kelly’s cheeks, with “YES” echoing across the mountaintops.” In February of 2020, I captured their engagement session at Princeton University.
Their outdoor Appleford wedding began with portraits all over the grounds of Appleford, Kelly and Gavin were just so excited to have finally gotten to their wedding day and the joy we captured between them was contagious! My groom’s paid such great attention to the details of their wedding day and hand picked every single detail to their outdoor wedding at Appleford. Their day had a color palette of gray and hunter green and their boutonnieres consisted of green fern, a white majolica spray rose flower and accents of seeded eucalyptus, that continued to tie the great outdoors into their wedding. Their puppy Scout played an important role in their day by posing for family photos with my groom’s and he was walked down the aisle by Gavin’s father. He also let all their guests know he was there with his adorable barks of joy throughout their ceremony. Their personal ceremony was officiated by a friend, they both read their own personal vows and they planted a tree with soil from their homelands before they sealed their marriage. Their reception was filled with sweet speeches from four of their closest friends and a lively dance floor!
These two couldn’t wait to say their “I do’s” in front of all their family and friends and everyone in attendance for Kelly and Gavin’s wedding seemed so happy for them and it was an absolute joy to witness! Thank you to Kelly and Gavin for choosing me to photograph your beautiful Appleford wedding, I can’t wait to watch you two further your journey of happiness together!
