Celebrating a first birthday is always such a special milestone, and Shyam’s cake smash session was the perfect way to capture this exciting chapter!
For his session, we kept things timeless and neutral with a beautiful color palette of warm browns and tans. One of my favorite details was the custom balloon arch I designed specifically for his setup. The soft, earthy tones created a classic look that allowed all the focus to stay on Shyam and his adorable personality.
As with most of my cake smash sessions, we started with family portraits. I love including parents and siblings at the beginning of the session because these images often become treasured keepsakes. Before we dive into the cake, it’s the perfect opportunity to document the connection and love that surrounds your little one as they celebrate their first birthday.
Once family portraits were complete, it was time for the main event – the cake smash! Shyam was so much fun to photograph as he explored his cake and celebrated this exciting milestone. Every baby reacts differently, and watching their unique personalities shine through is one of my favorite parts of these sessions.
Of course, no cake smash is complete without a splash! We wrapped up the session with a fun tub cleanup, which is always a favorite. The tub portion often brings some of the biggest smiles, but Shyam wasn’t having it! It’s always the perfect way to end the cake smash session while capturing even more sweet expressions and playful moments.
Shyam’s neutral cake smash was the perfect combination of classic styling, joyful family moments, and plenty of birthday fun. It was such a pleasure celebrating with this sweet family and documenting such an important milestone.
