WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEWBORN SESSION >
May 14, 2019
Last Fall, I photographed Jen and Mike’s Smithville Park engagement session. Jen and Mike first met in high school, he was a sophomore and she was a freshman. They hung out with the same group of friends and he had art class with her twin sister. Her first memory of Michael was him asking her to buy him french fries in the school lunch line, most likely thinking she was her twin sister!
How did these two know they had found the one? Michael says it was before they even started dating, they went to a haunted attraction with some friends and her mom. As they were walking through, they held hands and he says that’s when he knew. For Jennifer, she says it was their first kiss. She says she remembers feeling like she was going to pass out from how intense the butterflies were in her stomach!
Engaged on 10/22/2017, the proposal from Jennifer: “I had a wedding I was attending with one of my friends and when I left the house Michael was having breakfast. After the ceremony the bride was making her rounds and handed me her bouquet saying “you’re next,” I must have look petrified because she quickly followed up with how long we’ve been together and how she knew we had been talking about it. After the wedding my friend Kerri and I planned on meeting up with my sister and our other friend Bre at the Grounds for Sculpture. When we arrived, we started walking around taking pictures like girls do. The next corner I turned down, Megan starting playing Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” telling me to keep walking, that’s when I saw Michael standing at the end of a beautiful archway of vines. When I reached him, he asked for a kiss and next thing you know he was down on one knee. After he got up I saw our families come out from behind the bushes and the tears started flowing, the surprises weren’t over yet! My sister had one of our high school friends capturing everything so after a few family photo ops we headed to dinner. Michael and I walked into a room with even more of our friends and family waiting to celebrate with us. It was one of the best days of my life.”
When Jennifer and Michael aren’t planning their rustic and romantic Fall wedding at the Bradford Estate, they love going out to eat, going to the movies and binge watching their favorite tv shows. Once married, they both are looking forward to having kids, seeing where they go with our careers, and spending the rest of their lives together.
Any advice for future bride’s planning?
I take one task at a time and that is what I would suggest to other brides, it all goes so fast so just enjoy the moment!
And finally, what are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
I’m looking forward to all the intimate moments with the people I am closest with. Michael says he’s looking forward to saying “I do”.
Every part of our journey through life is sacred and passes by way too quickly. Susan elegantly captures the story of your legacy from the beginning with marriage and throughout motherhood with each special season it brings.
